John,
I agree with the work by Page Nickell. Page and I had email contact several years ago and she shared many of the deed and court records she found.
Several records indicate presence of a John & Nancy Crutchfield in early Franklin Co. KY with the following children: 1. Martha Patsy Crutchfield: 1813 Dec 9 (KY) Marriage of daughter, Patsy M. I wonder if Marian Crutchfield Sandsbury has confused the Thomas Crutchfield, son of Stapleton and Sarah Durett Crutchfield and brother of Robert Crutchfield, with Thomas Ferguson Crutchfield.
Robert, Stapleton and Thomas Crutchfield were sons of Stapleton & Sarah Durett Crutchfield as indicated in the following record: Virginia County Records Vol I page 947. Stapleton Crutchfield, Perkepley Parish, Spotsylvania Co, died June 17, 1788. Three eldest children -- John Crutchfield, Jane Lepscome, Agatha Woodfork; son Robert, son Stapleton, son Thomas, son Archilles; from district of Ky and county of Fayette; wife Sarah Crutchfield; youngest children Mary Noel, Robert, Stapleton, Thomas, and Achilles.
I have no record of Robert Crutchfield having anything to do with Franklin Co. KY. Know all men by these presents that we, Robert Crutchfield and Stapleton Crutchfield of the County of Spostylvania and State of Virginia have, made, ordained Constituted and appointed Thomas Crutchfield of the County of Jefferson and State of Kentucky our true and lawful attorney for us and in our names to sell assign and transfer all the lands with their Several appurtenances in the State of Kentucky to which we may be entitled under the last will and Testament of our decd Father Stapleton Crutchfield which will is of record in the County Court of Spotsylvania and State of Virginia aforesaid - ?(Dish)? power also an attorney or attorneys under him the Said Thomas Crutchfield for that purpose to make and Substitute? and to do all lawful acts requisite for effecting the premises; hereby ratifying and confirming all that our Said attorney or his Substitute or Substitutes shall do therein by virtue hereof; So that our attorney or his Substitutes in any ??? and or transfer of our lands aforesaid, Shall in no wise whatever Grant or give no other than a Special Warrantee, conveying our rights only, and binding ??? our selves and our heirs.
